The Galeries Lafayette chair

Launched for a three-year period in January 2013, this chair aims to reach a better understanding of «digital » development and impacting on the universe of commerce, and more precisely concerning department stores, so as to adapt its customer loyalty strategies and digital services (an e-commerce site, mobile applications and social networks – targeting its clients.

Establishment of the Chair

Paris, 16 January 2013 – the ‘Groupe Galeries Lafayette’, in partnership with the management school, Novancia, Business School Paris announced the creation of a Chair of Applied Research at the school, the subject being “The future of shopping”. With the creation of this Chair, the group reaffirms the importance of digital at the very heart of its strategy, aiming to become a multi-specialist in the mode, personal goods, omni- channel and international.

This chair is presided by Philippe Houzé, president of the Executive Board of the ‘Groupe Galeries Lafayette’ and Governing Board Chair of Novancia. A steering committee composed of members of the ‘Groupe Galeries Lafayette’, including Franck Zayan, internet and ecommerce director of the department store branch, meets twice a year in order to assess the progress of the work.

The partnership

The Galeries Lafayette Group is a family, private and independent group, inheritor of nearly 120 years of history built on retail distribution and commerce, at the heart of which idea is making the good and the beautiful accessible to as many as possible. With a healthy turnover exceeding 5 billion euros in 2011, the group now benefits from international recognition, earned through the Galeries Lafayette, BHV, Royal Quartz-Louis Pion and Didier Guérin brands.

The transversal chair in entrepreneurship and innovation

In 2006, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris Île-de-France launched a major research center in entrepreneurship and innovation combining the expertise of professor-researchers of five of its schools: HEC, ESCP Europe, ESIEE, ESSEC Business School and Novancia Business School. This creation is a first in this disciplinary field.

The NEIS chair
LABEX SERENADE : towards a conception of innovative, sustainable and safe nanomaterials

LABEX[a] SERENADE[b] was formed in response to a public tender of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the General Commission for Investment for the development of laboratories of excellence (LABEX) working on specific themes. The NEIS Chair, initiated by Claire Auplat[1] and created in 2012, is financed by LABEX SERENADE and is housed in Novancia Business School.

Objectives

The chair’s mission is to contribute to the development of two LABEX SERENADE branches within the framework of Novancia Business School’s educational project: a research branch concerning the strategies of development of nanomaterial-based products with a view to sustainable development and a training branch enabling the creation of a training program for a new generation of scientists and professionals working in connexion with nanotechnologies.

These two branches have allowed the implementation of initiatives which strengthened Novancia’s action in the field of business development of areas linked with eco-conception and strategic management of innovation.
